Reflections For Project

  • What did you learn from working on this project?

I learnt what things were invented by the Ancient Chinese and the advances of these products.I learnt that planning is very important as I did not plan very well on the project and the outcome was very bad.

  • What can be improved about the way the project was carried out?

We must plan well for the project,do a more detailed research, make a more proper worksheet and make a proper model. All this was not done properly because of my inefficient plan.I will plan well next time.

  • In a country like Singapore, which is multi-racial,what are the possible challenges that we might face?

The different races might one day be not united anymore. There might be fights between different religions and there might not be peace in the country. The different races might migrate to other countries, causing Singapore's population to decrease rapidly,Singapore might be gone.

  • How can we overcome these challenges?

We must interect with people of different races to build a good relationship,to understand their culture so that we will not do the wrong things in front of them eg.Malays cannot touch dogs' saliva. We cannot hold a dog with its leash in front of them in case the dog goes to them.

  • How was religions and philosophies important to the people of the ancient civilisations?

Religions let them have a god to pray for help when they need it and the god's reply could lead them to solve their problems. The philosophies also taught them the right thing in life and lead them.

1.Similarities between the government & society of the 3 ancient civilisations?
The 3 ancient civilisations were all ruled by kings.
2.Differences between the government & society of the 3 ancient civilisations?
Ancient India was ruled by kings where the Council Of Ministers would advise them on how to rule. The kings were regarded as being divine or god-like.There were many kings ruling different parts of Ancient India. They ruled in the capital where their power was the strongest and the weakest at the border zones. In Ancient China, they had a system called feudalism where the kingdoms were divided into feudal states. The lands were given to the feudal shi who would give tributes to the king and be loyal to the king. The feudal shi governed people on his land and sent soldiers to war.In Ancient Southeast Asia, several kings ruled over different sizes of the kingdom. The mrantan was in charge of matters like taxation, justice & army and the organising in the kingdom. The ruling of the vassel states in Meleka Sultanate was similar with Ancient China but the difference was that the lands were given to Sultan's relatives.
For society in Ancient India, people were divided according to jobs(varnas). At that time, people could move from 1 varna to another. After that, varnas was divide into Jatis.People inherit the job from their parents. They could not change to another Jatis. In Ancient China, during Shang dynasty, people were divided into 2 broad classes, the ruling and the working class.Their class they were in were passed down to their child.During Zhou dynasty, working class further divided into 4 smaller classes that were ranked schol;ars, farmers, craftsmen, traders.During Han dyansty, meritocracy. In Ancient Sountheast Asia, people were divided into ruling, trading & priestly and working class.People could move from 1 class to another.
3.How similar or different is their systems with S'pore's?
The meritocracy system in Ancient China is similar with Singapore's because in Singapore, those who studies more and have more and better certificates, they get better jobs no matter if they are poor or rich.Singapore has a unitary rule which is similar with Ancient China as we have standard measures & coins, same laws for everyone and same punishments.
